1175A Soldiers Field Road, Brighton
(Across the street from WBZ-TV 4)
Our outdoor summer home since 1971, The Publick Theatre at Herter Park is an outdoor amphitheatre on a man-made island in Christian Herter Park, part of the Massachusetts Department of Conservation & Recreation's Urban Parks Division.
The entrance to the theater is at the end of the large parking lot at Herter Park (located across the street from WBZ-TV and the Skating Club of Boston) Visitors will cross a small bridge onto the island where the theater is located, and follow a short path up the hill. The Box Office is at the top entrance and opens one hour prior to curtain on performance nights.
The amphitheater offers 125 set-in stadium seats in the center section (like you'd see at Fenway park) and backed bench seats on the left and right sides, with seating for just under 250 patrons.
The site, located directly on the banks of the Charles River, offers plentiful free parking only steps from the theater, and afford thousands of visitors every season the opportunity to experience a repertory of llive performance under the stars- in a relaxed setting unlike any other in the world.
Pre-performance picnics are encouraged on the grounds on show nights, though for safety, we request patrons be seated within the theater during performances. Light beverages and snacks are available for sale prior to performance and during intermission.
The site includes acres of free parking at the base of the theater for use during performance nights.
Seating is general admission; the house opens for seat selection 30 minutes prior to curtain. We can accommodate patrons with mobility issues- requests can be made via email to boxoffice@publicktheatreboston.com or call 617-782-5425. |
